Read this via RPS, and just wanted to say that I really enjoyed it, a lot. It's one of the best things I've read about a game for ages, and I'm always reading about games.

Oh god, those ancient floppy disk creatures D: I think you just broke me!

I reinstalled using the Gog version recently and was taken by surprise at how desperate and useless I felt when they get ill and whatever you do you can't save them. Or the time when I accidentally injected one with adrenaline, instead of energy. She died. I cried.

Creatures 4 is supposed to be out this year. I wait with bated breath!

I had frttogoen about the diet soda thing. *facepalm*The horror stories I’ve heard about Power Girl’s characterization and depowering in JLI (also, mystical pregnancy) are the reason I still haven’t read the series O_oI enjoyed Formerly Known and I Can’t Believe on their own merits, but I don’t know if I’ll ever go back and read the series proper because the PG stuff would probably give me an aneurysm.I’m really happy for fans of the series though!

[...] This is the most I have ever seen written on the subject of Creatures: “One day, when I was visiting my adoptive mother in Texas, I sat at the old computer and shuffled through old floppy disks. I was looking for things I had written as a teenager; I had saved all those stories to disks too. And this was how I found all of these labeled disks, one after another: a name and a date. A name, a date. A name, a date. I realized these were all Norns.” [...]
