Think back to the worst pain you ever experienced. Look past the event, the day, the situation, the reaction – just try to remember the physical sensation. Can you? (more…)

The new DC is upon us. When it hit shelves on August 31st, Justice League of America ushered in a new era. No need to worry about messy continuity, previous compressions, retcons or city-devastating earthquakes – it’s a clean slate for all DC titles. (more…)
Brilliant #1
(Icon – writer: Brian Michael Bendis; art: Mark Bagley)
Bendis and Bagley have made the Millar/McNiven leap and started a creator-produced series, Brilliant. The premise is that through modern science, a group of college students have created the first superheroes. The semantics behind their creation have yet to be explained, but I don’t see myself following this series for very long. While I love Bendis’ writing in most things, Brilliant is a disappointing read that focuses heavily on (ineffective) character development and excessive exposition. (more…)
Last week, Team Unwinnable picked their favorite superhero movies and and fought for glory on the battlefield of the Internet (Round 1, Round 2, Round 3). We left it to you, Dear Reader, to choose the winner. As it turns out, you are completely predictable and also really weird.
The winner, with almost a full third of the vote, is Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight (2008). Honestly, that was a given. That second and third place went to Orgazmo (1997) and Zebraman (2004), respectively, was a little more surprising. It’s good to know you favor stories about porn stars and crazy people.

Who would win in a fight?
It is a primal question that has spurred on more schoolyard arguments and message board flame wars than can be counted. Be it comic book characters, historical figures, fabled monsters or anything else, I can tell you that my favorite will kick your favorite’s butt any day of the week.
In that grand tradition, Unwinnable has embarked on a series of similar battles, pitting contributor against contributor in a battle royale of wits and smack talk. First it was the Kung Fu Showdown. Now it is the Superhero Movie Smack Down. Enter the arena, Dear Reader, and be thrilled by our blood sport. (more…)
The Internet is rejoicing today as Warner Bros. has officially released the Dark Knight Rises teaser. Nearly a week after a shoddy camera phone video of the trailer leaked onto the web and immediately disappeared (thereby all but guaranteeing its legitimacy), here’s the real McCoy – a Ra’s al Ghul voiceover from Batman Begins and Commissioner Gordon giving Batman a pep talk: (more…)
It’s that time of year again: look back, look forward, write a top ten list.
I’m no exception. Along with my comrades Ethan Sacks and Michael Sheridan, here’s the first of three (THREE!) year-end top ten lists from the New York Daily News: the Best Geek Moments of 2008.
