Today in 1937, The Hobbit was first published. You love The Hobbit and it will soon be several major motion pictures! Go do something awesome this weekend!
Stu Horvath: Wikipedia: Crown Royal is a blended Canadian whisky, 40% alcohol by volume, 80 proof. The reigning monarch King George VI, and his wife, Queen Elizabeth, visited Canada in 1939. Crown Royal was introduced that year by Samuel Bronfman, President of Seagram as a tribute to the royal visit. It was available only in Canada until 1964. Now it is available in my house.
Chuck Moran: This weekend, I am going to a wedding on Friday and a key party on Saturday. I so hope I get to go home with someone that wants to co-op on Borderlands 2.
Ian Gonzales: This weekend, I’m torn between seeing Dredd 3D and The Master. Perhaps there’s a double feature in my future? I will be hitting up the Brooklyn Book Festival on Sunday to catch the Worlds Built Over Time panel with Jaime Hernandez.
Don Becker: More Rock Band Blitz as long as my thumbs stop hurting. Maybe some Mark of the Ninja because I hear good things. But mostly playing around with my free iPad 1. So far it’s worth every penny.
Garrett Martin: On Sunday we’re taking our mother-in-law to the zoo for her birthday.
Matt Marrone: I’ll be officially welcoming my sister, brother-in-law, nephew and niece to sunny Queens, as they have just completed their move to Rego Park. Doris would be proud.
Gus Mastrapa: We are going to a baby shower and watching Cabin in the Woods. Preferably at the same time.
Mark Mariano: Saturday I will plant some grass. Sunday I will watch it grow.
Brian Taylor: I’m going bowling.
Steve Haske: Who doesn’t love The Hobbit? I started Dragon’s Dogma and now I feel my thirst for a good hardcore action RPG won’t be slaked till I play more. Reading Chaucer. Maybe turning off my phone for a day.
Richard Clark: Playing some split-screen Borderlands 2 and driving to some city for some reason I don’t fully comprehend yet.
Jordan Mammo: I’ll be exploring Kyoto with my girlfriend, enjoying the scenery and taking as many breaks as I can to visit the arcades and play Gunslinger Stratos.
Ryan Kuo: After a few weeks without videogames, I started Catherine and have sworn that only weird and artistic games are going to be allowed back into my life. On Saturday I’m going to check out the Boston Festival of Indie Games that’s happening on the MIT campus. Otherwise I’ll be holed up in my studio and trying to understand why minimalist sculpture is problematic.
Sam Machkovech: Bottling up Seattle’s last weekend of sun for the foreseeable future. After that, herding cats in Tokyo Jungle.
Brendan Keogh: I’ll be at the Freeplay Games Festival in Melbourne. It’s like Australia’s own mini GDC. By that I mean a whole lot of people who tweet about videogames get together and drink for a while.
JP Grant: I’ll be hand-chiseling a minimalist sculpture of Ryan Kuo. Nothing problematic about that.
