On this day in 1310, France burned 54 members of the Knights Templar at the stake. Ubisoft, being a French company and judging by the storyline in Assassin’s Creed, seems to still feel quite strongly about the Knights Templar. But hey, who’s counting? It’s Friday!
Stu Horvath: I am meeting with Unwinnable’s managing editor, Rob Roberts. Together, we shall look at what makes Unwinnable strong. We will take its measure. We will spin the cloth of a new manifesto and lay down the foundations of a new future and a new destiny. Trumpets will sound and the mountains will shake with expectation.
After that, I am pretty much free. Anyone up for some Horde mode?
Chuck Moran: This weekend there will be a podcast, an Avengers movie and a some computer rebuilding. Horde mode, could be fun.
John McGuire: This weekend I’ll be having dinner with the Beckers, finishing up my stint on Long Island and playing through the Ocarina of Time on 3DS.
Ian Gonzales: This weekend, I plan on catching up on some comics, specifically Saga, Memorial, Fatale, Manhattan Projects, Wolverine & The X-Men and Uncanny X-Force. Whew!
Dave Trainer: This weekend I’m gonna listen to Metallica and watch the Rangers beat up on Washington. I also hope to get back into Assassin’s Creed: Revelations – “You see it’s called a hook blade. Because it’s part blade and part hook. The blade is bent like a hook.” Maybe not.
Don Becker: Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there! (Do I know our prime demographic or what?) I will celebrate by not having to root for the Washington Capitals any more after Saturday. But first, dinner with Hambone and Dan Imperiale. Then, road trip.
Matt Marrone: I’m in New Orleans. I’ve already blacked out in the middle of a bar at 4 a.m. and it’s only been one night.
Ethan Sacks: Will see Avengers for a third time in case I missed some subtle nuance.
Ken Lucas: This weekend I will be testing out some new film gear and audio gear. I will also start work on a song with my first bandmate. I am hoping to get some time to conquer the Captain America table in Zen Pinball on iOS.
Gus Mastrapa: Rock Band party at my house. I am making a paella.
Dan Imperiale: Making the best Mother’s Day ever for about 135 people, via blenders. I’ve also got less than a month to get those damn breast implants that are required to get through inbound security at LAX.
Brian Bannen: After a week of rain and cold weather, I’m going to build Adirondack chairs, read some comics, read some essays, and hopefully play a bit more of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions (whose best levels involve Spider-Man Noir).
Erik Weinbrecht: This weekend I will watch the Rangers do battle at the world’s greatest arena…from the comfort of my couch. Wyld Stallyns!
Mark Mariano: It’s a super fun book release party tonight for my pal Dave Roman’s graphic novel, Teen Boat! The party will be held on a 100-year-old barge in NYC. My wife and I will be dressed nautically.
Heather Sedlak: Mother’s Day celebrations will happen after everything for school gets submitted and the semester is completed! Sunday will be a good, relaxing day. Tomorrow will be full of work.
Michael Edwards: The migration to the other side of the BQE begins! I still have a few weeks left in my current place so it’s mostly measuring and probably moving a couple of boxes this weekend. I’d also like to hit up the comic shop and Barcade while I’m over there. Also would like to see Avengers! Maybe I can take my mom for Mother’s Day? [I did! - Ed.]
Sal Lucci: I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of Messrs. Simonetti and Celentano in Bloomington.
Steve Haske: Mother’s Day (Hi Mom!), a couple iOS write-ups, E3 planning and Far Cry 2. The weekend will be over before it begins, or something.
Jenn Frank: I’m going to an Electric Six concert with friends from New York. Until they get here, I’m cleaning.
Richard Clark: I’m playing it mostly by ear this weekend. The only guarantee is that there will be times with friends, moderate amounts of beer and I will be writing a piece for Unwinnable at some point. That seems like a pretty good, if generic, weekend.
Dan Apczynski: Saturday night, I’ll be playing some rock tunes near downtown San Francisco, and Sunday will be my wife’s first Mother’s Day (sort of! we’re due this fall). At some point in there, I hope to play some Horde mode with Stu.
Sam Machkovech: Actually, I’m in Maui right now watching the sun rise, and I’m here for five days, but I still brought 400 videogames as backup. I always get this feeling as a freelancer that I can vacation any time, so long as I can get to work at a moment’s notice, and as such, I have a few potentially reviewable games in the bag. One of them, Mario Tennis Open, I might just chuck into the Pacific. It’s a beating. Worth noting, I got hassled by the TSA for leaving my Xbox in my luggage, as if the Red Ring of Death was worse than 4 oz. of liquid. I’m sure the media just wishes someone would put a bomb in an Xbox so they could trip over themselves hating on antisocial stereotypes.
