Do Not Cross

Did anyone else catch the ‘sneak preview’ of AMC’s Rubicon last night after the premier of Mad Men? I thought it was an interesting but puzzling start. There were definitely some genuinely compelling, quiet moments that made good use of the oodles of atmosphere the show generates in spades, but in the end, I left feeling unfulfilled. At its most basic, I’m not sure I know what is going on. Sure, I can make some educated guesses, but I learned a valuable lesson from Lost about not doing that anymore. The producers would probably tell me that obscurity is the point of a show about conspiracies, but even then, I feel like I’ve already seen the tip of this particular iceberg.
I would love an engrossing mystery to dive into every week but I’m not yet entirely convinced that Rubicon is it. What say you?

I have not seen this, nor do I watch Mad Men, however AMC seems to have the golden touch lately.
I like Mad Men (though it is about as far from 'geeky' as a TV show can be). It definitely pulled itself back from an abyss and feel fresh and exciting again.
I watched the sneak peak on Hulu and I liked it so far. The actual premier this Sunday will be two episodes back to back so maybe that will help you to dive in to this story line a little more. I agree with you though, this can go either way but I'm willing to wait it out and see, I'm also willing to jump ship if it gets a little too crazy for me. I already have Fringe if I want to really stretch my ability to suspend disbelief.
I'm actually finding that, the further into the week I get, the more I am looking forward to seeing the next episode. I'm definitely feeling more positive about it.
